During the Pahlavi era, several discourses and sub-discourses dominated the visual field of Iran at the same time, one of which is the graphic sub-discourse of the revolution. This critical sub-discourse was formed around the central signifier of Imam Khomeini (R) and by rejecting its rivals, it was able to be slowly formulated and become the dominant discourse of Iranian society with the victory of the Islamic Revolution. The main issue of the present study is to investigate the effect of Imam Khomeini's theological principles on the development of this sub-discourse. Hence, the present article seeks to answer the question: How the graphic sub-discourse of the Islamic Revolution was formed based on the ideas of Imam Khomeini? The general method of this research is a historical analysis that has been done using qualitative analysis, discourse theory and library resources. The findings of the research indicate that Imam Khomeini, as the central signifier of the sub-discourse of the Islamic Revolution, elaborated the concepts around him, which led to the formation of a sub-discourse in the field of Iranian graphics.
