| Despite the years of the Syrian crisis, not only has the complex situation of the country not only been reduced but it has also undermined its ability to influence regional relations by intensifying its security in its regional allies. Using a descriptive-analytical approach, this study explores this hypothesis from the perspective of defensive realism: Iran's role in the Syrian crisis and the defeat of ISIL maintain strategic position and increase regional influence, confronting Iranian opposition-based groups in The region has been the center of resistance and the formation of a pattern of cooperation between Iran and Russia that has increased Iran's security and influence in the region. The results show that Iran is trying to gain greater influence in the region by using its alliance with Russia to secure its national security first and then its national interests. | |
