Abstract: (446 Views)
Iraq's aggression against Iran, which began with the encouragement of the United States and the support of some governments, was, apart from its devastating effects in various fields, an effectual case for evaluating the performance of international organizations, including the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement. The aim of this article, which was written using a descriptive-analytical method and citing library sources, is to present a comparative evaluation on the performance of the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement during the imposed war of Iraq against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The main question of this research is: How was the performance of these two organizations during the imposed war? The overall result of the research indicates the fact that the United Nations, due to its dependence on the great powers, and the Non-Aligned Movement, due to the heterogeneity of its members, were unable to fulfill their inherent duty during the imposed war, and of course, the United Nations played a more unconstructive role than the Non-Aligned Movement during the imposed war.
